On a Sony PSP

Am I the only person in the world using portable apps from my Sony PSP if you save the file s as jpeg in the psp in the PHOTO folder you can even view them without going near a PC something even the humble flash drive cant do. I have installed Open office, Firefox, Sunbird, Thunderbird, on my PSP's 2gig inernal memory card
warm regards

Dont trust him

It might be an attempt to brick your PSP
I dont think it would work

whos the brick?

portable apps run from memory usb memory memory sticks harddrive memory etc. the psp uses the sony pro-duo memory in my case I added a 2 gig produo card the portable apps are not virus's they are portable apps that reside in a file on the memory card there is no way they can cause the psp to be unusable ie brick as the psp is designed to hold all types of files I might suggest that you do not have a pspand do not have a good understanding of how portable apps work. please refrain from posting paranoid stuff like that fine if you dont think it will work but please check your facts first it does work and very well i might add, much to the good folk who make the apps

Hmm interesting

I have heard and do not doubt that any device capable of being used as a hard drive can run or maybe more correctly, STORE, portable apps, such as MP3 players, mobile phones and even digital cameras. I am guessing that the point about renaming files in the PSP has caused the doubt. Do you mean that you would need to rename a portable app as a jpeg?
I am interested in purchasing a PSP and would be interested in how you use it. I imagine that you are not implying that the PSP can RUN the apps but merely host the files for running when connected to a PC and used as a hard drive.

A BIG YES

yes hosting portable apps on a PSP and not running them. On a psp memory card that is formatted by the psp there are a number of folders one of them is Named "Photo" to find it open the folder Named "PSP" then you will see the PHOTO folder. When using a portable app that can save its files as a Jpeg say 'Open Office Impress' save the completed presentation as a jpeg in the Photo folder come out of USB mode in on the PSP go to Photo mode and simply view the presentation. this is a wonderfull hybrid of using a psp and portable apps I use the following
PSP firmware 2.6 firmware is irrelavant(at the while)
A 2 Gb sony high speed Pro Duo memory card
apps as follows
Firefox
Open Office
abi word
smartripper a tiny DVD ripping tool
eraser
pstart
sunbird
thunderbird
I thouraghly reccomend the psp and Smart ripper can be used to rip DVD 's Dr divx is used to join up all the files and make a divx file and PSP9 is used to convert the divx file to be viewed on the psp great tool

He means

that he's storing the apps on the memory card in the PSP and then using the PSP as, essentially, a card reader when hooking it up to a PC and running the apps off that.

As for the JPEG comment, he meant that if you save images and such as JPEGS in the PHOTO folder on the memory card, then you can view them on the PSP itself while you're mobile.

They're Windows Apps

You can run them from the PSP memory card on a Windows PC.
