Suggestion for Portable Apps Backup.

Have you considered using UHARC instead of 7zip? It compresses better

Download all UHARC versions

What's new in version 0.6a

- option to create self-extracting archives (SFX / Win32 only)
- using again PMODE/W DOS Extender (does not need external program)

Note: UHARC 0.6a archives are compatible with v0.6 archives but
NOT compatible with any previous version (version number

Nope

The goal is to keep the default in a standard zip file and give folks the option of a higher-compression format that works with the semi-standard 7z which has an available portable app that handles it. No need for special software.

A self-extractor wouldn't really buy you much in terms of backups as long as you're using a standard format that is readily usable. Zips are openable right within Windows.

What if you stripped it

What if you stripped it using Nlite? Then again, you would probably have 3rd party installed...........

Also not OSI

It's also not open source, so the point is moot anyway.
