Thunderbird PE doesn't see my profile when I move the drive

I am at a loss as to what to do here. I have found some threads on this issue but am still stuck. The email and settings etc are all stored in the default locations. The profile settings say this:

[ThunderbirdPortableSettings]
LastProfileDirectory=G:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile
AgreedToLicense=YES

and when I look in that directory, everything is there - 599 mb of data. So I tried doing a fresh install of the program on a different removable drive and just copying the data folder over to the new drive. Nothing - no difference. I have tried installing on both a removable USB hard drive and a corsair voyager USB 8GB flash drive. I am running windows XP SP2 on a dell gx240 2.4ghz with 512mb am. I have a usb 2.0 PCI card installed and also have a front USB panel powered by the pci card.

thanks in advance -

Patrick

when I open thunderbird PE

when I open thunderbird PE after moving the drive, it acts as if it is the first time I ever used it. Nothing is there - no emails, no account settings, no address book - nothing. Yet if I look in the data directory profiles, everything ids there. All the emails, all the address book entries, everything - 599 mb of data. The data is there, and in the directory it should be in, but the program doesn't see it.
