Hi there! I've been using Firefox and Miranda (both portable) for a month or so, and I must say They're both kick-ass apps.
But Our PortableInternet experience would be very much enhanced with a portable version of Last.FM client... Is it possible?
Program: Last.FM Client
License: Open Source (GPL)
Description: The Last.FM sofware needed to scrobble tracks to your Last.FM account
Website: www.last.fm
Website2: They give some links to the source code here: http://www.last.fm/tools/downloads/
Thx a lot!
What *is* it?...

Last.fm sort of does for music what del.ico.us does for bookmarking (i.e. it's a social music tagging site). You may have heard of it under it's previous name, Audioscrobbler.

I don`t really like this app because you need to register. Don`t get the point...
Well, it's funny and great for discovering new music. But the client is great! it's a radio based on tags, similarities, and/or friends. No one else supports my motion?
I do. I have been enjoying Last.FM pretty thuroughly, and a portable app would be nice, I listen to most of my music at work AND I can't install the WMP plugin because they don't give us admin privileges (stupid network logins). I would be happy if someone could open up the download for the plugin and figure out how I can put it in place to run without an install.

Hey andy, i've read at

that xmplay works with lastfm
havent tried yet
If you look on the last.fm forums, somewhere someone realised that an older version of the client is portable (or can be made portable can't remember which), and had hosted the older version for download...
I love last.fm I would love to see a portable version, but have no clue where to start.
Anyone have any luck finding the old version? I can't seem to find it.

Think this version is portable. Watch out for the cached album art taking up space on your thumb drive though...
It works perfectly! But you are right, the cache directory fills up with a 20k image file for every song that plays.
I bet someone could write a small launcher that basically empties the cache on exit.
I could try it with a batch file and see what happens.

Well I wonder if it is writing some settings to the desktop. I unplugged my drive and placed it in my laptop. It no longer knew my login/password and prior tags/radio stations.
Any thoughts?

Go to a PC where you never used it before and test it with regshot or a similar prog.

It IS actually writing some configurations (like the username and password) to the HKCU registry.
A PortableApps launcher for Last.fm player might be a good idea to store on file those settings, and also redirect the album cover arts to a temporary location instead of writing directly to the USB key. We should avoid saving the cover art cache on the USB key, as it would redure the overall lifetime of the USB key.
