I guess this was inevitable after reading John's explanation in the Firefox for U3 thread in regard to U3 politics and such.

I still do like SanDisk products (non-U3 products), but after buying my Cruzer Titanium last year on sale (now I know why it was on a deep discount), and having it not Vista ready, I also have started walking away from U3. If they make my Titanium (2.18 firmware) Vista compatible, I will probably use it again, but since I got a DataTraveler Secure, this has become my default drive for files and Portable Apps.

The company already has its own similar platform to substitute for U3, according to company sources.
Can't they just make flash disks like before? As in "storage device" why include all that stuff? Seriously...
They include it because it adds value to the product and there is obviously an interest in it.

I doubt they'll include portableapps, I almost bet they are gonna include yet another proprietary 'alternative' as if we didn't have enough of them.
Flash disks should be sold as portable devices and let people choose what software to add to them.
I at least hope the kingston's added value is easier to uninstall than U3
