Upgrading Ubuntu... again

As a person who loves always having the latest software, I can't wait for Feisty Fawn to be released. However, this constant upgrading of Ubuntu feels kind of odd to me. Maybe its because I like to start out on a clean slate, meaning i'll have to reformat everything and start all over again. This constant release cycle just makes me feel that i'm using ephemeral desktop. What are your opinions?

upgrade

I do a clean install of ubuntu every second install. So I installed 6.06 clean, then did the upgrade to 6.10. when 7.04 comes out, I'll do a clean install. 7.10 will be an upgrade. The upgrade process starting with 6.10 was made very easy, and much more stable than a windows upgrade install.

Keeping 6.06 for now

I've heard good things about Fiesty Fawn from those who've used it. I started out with Dapper Drake 6.06, considered upgrading to Edgy Eft 6.10, but then decided against it. 6.06 works great for me, and it's a long-term supported version. Since everything on my system is working great, I am just going to keep 6.06 for awhile.

Not me

As soon as I hear a new version of whatever is out, I get it. Well, maybe not right away, I´ll wait for a while to read what others have to say about it. Regarding Ubuntu, I also started with 6.06 and then upgraded to 6.10 a few weeks ago.

Don;t download

if you use a Dell Wireless card (or possibly a wireless card in general if it does not have a Linux driver), since I used it, seemed kick-ass until Ndiswrapper couldn;t wrap a wireless card driver, I'd wait till the guys who work on Ndiswrapper make it work better, as for ya 6.06 Dapper Drake Users, why are you still with Dapper, haven;t ya heard of g.10 Edgy Eft?!

I'm sure they have

I'm sure they've heard of Edgy, but being that Dapper has the long-term support a lot of people are sticking with it. Kinda like Vista. there's LOTS of people who just dont see why they should upgrade their XP to Vista, if XP is still working wonders for them.

Wireless Fixed in Feisty

I've read some really good things about Feisty's Wireless capabilities. It's supposed to have "'excellent wireless support'" - good news for lappys!

On the topic of Ubuntu.

Right now, I am using Ubuntu 6.06 in Microsoft Virtual PC. Two questions, it's not as clear as Windows, is there anything to help this? Like, I mean the fonts and stuff aren't that clear. As well, John, if you see this. The logo, on the top of this site, in Windows, it doesn't match the rest of the banner/bar at the top, it's kindof a darker shade of red, but in Ubuntu, it seems to blend in A Lot better, any idea why? I guess anyone can answer that second question if you know why too.

EDIT: It's just a Internet Explorer thing. Go figure.

Yeah

I upgraded from Edgy to Feisty rather thant a clean Feisty install, but the latest Ubuntu kernel does not work with my Wireless card, I have to use the latest kernel for Edgy, but I can use that kernel with Feisty and still use my WC, I guess Feisty has a way to go before it can work with wireless cards out of the box.
