Open Office Updating

I have just started using portable apps this week, but have been using Open Office on my PC some some time. Today they announced a new version (2.2.0) which I have uploaded to my desktop machine.

Yesterday i installed the current portable version onto my flash drive via Portable Apps menu, and when I used that this afternoon I got a message saying a later version is available, this being the new 2.2.0 version according to the OO web site.

What I am not sure about is whether I can use the downloaded installer on my desktop to put this new version onto my flash drive, or whether I have to wait for PortableApps.com to add a compatible portable version to their applications menu. If I do have to wait does anybody know how long it will be before the new version appears.

Regards

AFAIK,

Only Firefox and Thunderbird can be updated with the built-in update mechanism. The safest/best/easiest thing is to wait for John's release.
Especially now, as the new version of OOO will (hopefully) suppport "Java Portable™". (Java on-the-go)
