What? (update failure!)

I can't update, not even in safe mode. It says it found the update, but then the little progress bar runs for a while (no actual progress, just the 3 little bars running), doesn't actually connect, and says it downloaded the update and wants me to restart. So I close Fx, open it, and it says it needs to download a full update, and does the same thing ad infinitum. Forecasfox does the same thing too for some reason. The three boxes will go on forever.

Maybe its an extension

which is interfering.
I had some problems updating my normal one and I didn't have them on a fresh copy.
Try updating a fresh package and install your extensions to the updated one. I know its not meant to be done like this, but if you don't have tooooo many extensions, it could be a way.

Uhhh... it fails in safe mode. I mentioned that.

a thought: I had to run chkdsk earlier; maybe it was a corruption problem

update: I tried the partial update, and it failed, but the full update is actually showing a download status now. What's weird, though is that it show the infinite progress animation, but after I clicked in the window, it displayed download progress, showing that a few hundred KB had already been downloaded. I guess I can wait to see if the full update will work.
