Portable bookmark manager::

I feel a Portable bookmark manager would be really nice program to have. (i don't know if one exists, if there is some, please let me know)..

As i use Portable Firefox mainly for carrying bookmarks.Which is really slow while accessing bookmarks Sad .
And now a days firefox is becoming standerd to all computer, its becoming more impotant to carry the bookmarks along, rather than the firefox.

cheers,
saikat

Bookmarks are stored in an

Bookmarks are stored in an HTML file called bookmarks.html in the root part of your profile e.g. Portable Firefox\profile\bookmarks.html. You can view that file in any web browser and copy it to wherever you want. I could also recomend (if I may) my utility Profile Sync which gives you a hassel free way of cloning your Firefox profile. You can get it at the address below. Support for it is currantly in the BETA tesing forum of this site.

Bookmark Syncronizer

I use Bookmark Syncronizer Firefox Extension so that I always keep them remotely as opposed to just on my USB key.

Good idea. Wink I do the opposite: Post to a server and make periodical backups, importing it into firefox. Seems to (for me) keep un-sync probs from happening, though I might just like doing things the hard way....

Edit: Whoa. Sorry! I just noticed my redundancy. Please forgive me, lol, I've had about 4 1/2 hours of sleep in the last 24, and that pattern for the last few days....(heh, newly 21; explain much?...)

Bookmarks Synchronizer supports Firefox 1.0 not

Bookmarks Synchronizer was last updated lonk back and it supports Firefox 1.0 not the latest versions :(,
how do u guys still use it?!

And in case u have a huge bookmark link, or have a very slow connection it takes long time to download...

Mr. Mojo (not verified)
You've got a french version

You've got a french version working with FF 1.5.0.1 here : http://extensions.geckozone.org/BookmarksSynchronizer (click on Installer Bookmark Synchronizer 1.02).

Not sure if english language is included.

You can get it here...

Unfortunately the extention site at firefox is not kept up to date, you can get the extension here:

http://extensions.geckozone.org/BookmarksSynchronizer

If you see any promoting 1.1.8 Beta, Do not use as of yet, it still has bugs. But the above link is 1.02 and it works fine. You would just need an Ftp server to upload to and you are good to go.

FTPFox

Since Firefox is ubuiquitous (sp?) on my college's computers, I'd love a way to run my profile off my FTP server with the campus's copy of Fx. I have my own FTP server (a friend owns a web-hosting company) and I'm working on a script to connect to the server, download the profile, backup the current one and use mine, then, when done, synchronize my profile with the server's and then restore the previous one.

Steve Lamerton, I think this one might be interesting for you. Contact me if you want to help out... I don't know much NSIS, but it probably would work better. nm35.53mngmailcom

It would certainly be a good idea. I however have quite a lot on at the moment (new versions of my current apps and 2 new projects) that I am working on. I would however still be interested on working at it. If you could e-mail me (see my contact page) what you have already done then that would be a good start as I think it would be a good thing to take part in.

Will do ASAP. Unfortunately, my work got lost a while ago (see my blog -- my comp crashed) and so I'm redoing it... Will send you the stuff as soon as I finish getting my first version back.

I'm going to make a page on my blog for every project I'm involved in, so look there for details, if anybody's interested in this.

Steve, can I help out with your projects? I have a few ideas (like with PortaLog and UniformServer), so I might be able to help out.

Thanks.

The projects page is up; I'm working as fast as possible to redo PortaFTP, but it isn't really working at the moment.
