I would love to be a linguist that specializes in ancient languages. Moreover, my ideal career would entail accompanying various archaeological teams on expeditions near, far and wide, to assist in interpreting evidence that may tell more about an ancient culture's way of communicating.
Egyptian hieroglyphics was the first ancient language that caught my attention way back in high school, but since then, I've studied several ancient cultures whose histories and languages I've become interested in, many of them in my own (relatively speaking) backyard.
I don't know anyone who does this sort of work for a living, so I am not sure that this is something people are hired for by anyone, anywhere. I guess that's why it's my dream job.
