The guy

who made it did it the wrong way.
Skip to the bottom, you will notice I am developing a portable version with another guy.

Loads normal Limewire

Just pointing out... this hasn't been finished yet, so that's probably why it loads your normal limewire or something

Actually

The guy used a launcher which backed up your local settings, ran Limewire, moved those settings on to your drive and then restored your local settings.
Like I said, skip to the bottom, I'm working with a guy.

FrostWire

Is LimeWire open source? I believe FrostWire is, and I also believe as a prerequisite the computer that runs a portable LimeWire or FrostWire will need Java installed.

Yep

LimeWire is licensed under the GPL.

I believe it is possible to specify a path to Java.

Uhm well.

Edit #4. :/

Not easy to get ride of "frostwire" and "limewire". But I guess I finnaly go it.

limewire:
- paid version (pro)
- gpl version (free)
- commercial firm
- see news and make your own opinion, imho not trustworthy

frostwire
- noncommercial, free developers
- only gpl version!
- the wiki says it has the functions like limewire pro

So what? Why not use frostwire instant?

I looked

into it, but it looked quite a bit harder than LimeWire.

What about shareaza?

I realize this is covered in another thread, but what about Shareaza?

John was working on it at least at one point, and it does have bittorrent capability.

bad news

Frostwire has adware for some adultfinder aswell too. :/ We shouldn`t trust any file transfer app before confirming the source and building it our self.

Shareaza is not perfect since it doesn`t support socks for outgoing connections and bittorrent encryption. Well, all those apps are not perfect, imho not really worth to make portable.
