Calculator Portable
What is it?
Well, it's just a launcher for Microsoft's Calculator with a splash screen.
The splash isn't that great right not, I will spend more time on it for the next release, when I cahnge the icon for the self extractor, but bascially, it's just a simple little launcher so you8 have quick and east access to the Calculator from your portable apps menu. I will be happy to give a shot at an actual calculator to make portable, is some people could give me links to some open-source calculators they have found. Thanks!
Edit: Development of this launcher (Although none is needed) will be discontinued as I have found and created a portable version of TTCalc, a better, more functional calculator. The thread can be found here.
Thanks for doing this. I've been looking for a portable calculator!
I look forward to checking it out!

Thanks for this!
I use it all the time now. So convenient. I use P-start and have a nice shortcut key to get to it.

I moved the calculatorportable.ini to the same directory as the calculatorportable.exe and changed the value to true.
But regardless the splash still pops up. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
Timothy

Well don't you just have to steal my glory. Hmmpf. Who needs a portable calculator for Linux anyways.

Cool, post the results here.
P.S. It's so much easier to make Portable Apps for Linux than for Windows...

As I've stated several times, you may not self-promote your website here at PortableApps.com. I don't know how I could have been more clear in my previous statements. There are very specific guidelines for promoting individual applications (open source, max 2 posts per month, may not promote the website, etc). Please re-read the forum guidelines before posting again.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I'm not self-promoting, John. I gave control of the website to someone else. I'm just linking to it. I repeat: it is not my website.

Windows? They're what I look out of while running Linux!
It doesn't matter. If you're involved in it, the guidelines apply to you, too. They apply to everyone involved in a website, development group, company, etc as a single entity.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Can I at least say the word PorTools?

Windows? They're what I look out of while running Linux!
Is that supposed to be an attempt to get around the rules I *JUST* outlined to you for about the 4th time or a joke? I sent you an email a few minutes ago, please respond to it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
That post wasn't serious, nor was it a joke. It was just a plain meaningless post. I will look over my post better next time. If it had a delete button, I would have pressed it right after I posted it. <hint hint> <no delete button> <nudge>

You don't need a launcher since there's no settings.
Oh yeh, I wasn't supposed to say that

Are you (Ryan McCue) making fun of him and me?! He made the Portable Calculator for Windows, I made it for Linux, so you're making fun of both of us..!
On a more serious note... It's customary to have the launcher in every program, just so they would all be linked together somewhat.

Didn't work with the colour of the splash, so I just went with blue. Because it matches the usb stick, I also made the font blue. It's gonna be a while before I post if here, cause I need to figure out how to get rid of some of the uneeded code, and have it still working. But if you want, I can send it to you as is, it's good to go really. Because you're not gonna notice the difference. What's your e-mail, if you want me to send it.

Works great, I'm still waiting for my flash drive to come in, so I'll use it when it gets here (well, I'm sorta waiting until I have enough money to get it ). A lot of great work.

In any case, it doesn't leave much registry, so it could be up for a beta release (if that's what you want to call it). One error in App\AppInfo\appinfo.ini (very unimportant, but I caught it):
should be something more like:
As I said, small, but maybe something you would want to fix before hosting.

the local settings (i.e. scientific or not) and if you modify them....
Would it be very hard to do "portable settings"?

Lol, yea, that's the only setting I could find with the program, but where does it store the settings? Cause I will definatly backup the current settings and have portable settings if you know where the settings for the local install are? Or maybe an ini file if that doesn't work. Thanks for noticing that, cause I didn't think bout it, I just new that was the only setting I could see.

I hate to break it to you but Microsoft's Calculator does not need a launcher to work portabily. I use just the exe and it works fine
Calculator Portable
What is it?
Well, it's just a launcher for Microsoft's Calculator with a splash screen. Sticking out tongue
Most people aren't gonna go find calc.exe and copy it to their drive.

This post is actually way old, and I've since done TTCalc Portable, and the moved on to the lovely SpeedCrunch Portable. Try that one it, it should be released officially pretty soon.
are you still doing TTCalc Portable? or can someone else take over it? (hint hint)
But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
There's no need. Does it have any advantages over SpeedCrunch?
can this post be sorted out or started again. i think it has somewhat gotten outa hand with all the garbage not rrelating to the orig topic.
we are talking about portable scientific calculators here. we should all know by now as we have been here for awhile about links we can post and the basic guidlines (i do not remember them in detail dut they are similar to most other forum sites i, and you all, have been to).
i think that the fact that you (dkulchenk) got annoyed is ok, you do need to remember what this post is about, be respectfull of administrators that have right to say things like Ryan did when the rules have been breached.

Do you really mean to be drugging up things from a year ago?
And I don't mean the topic itself.
The "garbage" was settled a long time ago, and dkulchenk took his correction well.
