illegal firefox

Isn't this an illegal version of firefox?
http://stadt-bremerhaven.de/2007/02/23/portable-firefox-2002-deutsch/

BTW: it leaves the /mozilla folder in Appdata.

It is illegal/Es ist illegal

While the open source license allows you to modify and redistribute software, it does not allow you to use a trademark without the permission of the trademark holder. This is why there is no trademark grant within the GPL or MPL. So, any portable package of Firefox that Mozilla has not given explicit permission to is an illegal modification.

[Edit and modified the translation for better understanding MarkoMLM:] Diese Version ist illegal.

That's fine

You're more than welcome to do that (it is open source). You just can't then give it to anyone else or make it available online with the Mozilla or Firefox names or logos in it.

Hi John, where can i get

Hi John, where can i get infos or contact to Mozilla? A few moths ago ive wrote about my questions (german portable version of Firefox) to licensing@mozilla.org and get no answer Sad

Can u help me? And: NO, i will not "have" your users Smile

My version isnt so popular - and thats good. I know a few people who used it - because its in Germanys Wikipedia and German Firefox Wikis / Forums.

So I think it is a "Must" to be legal.

I hope you can - and will - help me.

Sorry for my crappy englisch Wink

Happy Easter from Germany

I just found another

page illegally distributing Firefox and Thunderbird as portable versions and thought I bring this up again as I think this is still a problem.
On the other hand, they are using such outdated code that it maybe isn't worth any effort.
