Disabling "Open all in tabs" option

I've found several suggested modifications to put into userChrome to stop the "open all in tabs" option appearing in my bookmark menus, but none of them actually work.

Does anyone know how to get the portable version to stop putting this option in?

Cheers

mozillaZine

This is a generic Firefox question (not portable specific) and far better asked at a place like mozillaZine.org. You'll get a faster response.

I tried the fixes suggested

I tried the fixes suggested at MozillaZine. None of them worked. Hence I wondered if it was a Portable-specific issue...

Google

A quick google search for remove "open all in tabs" gave a result where I found your answer at the MozillaZine Forums. You know, this so-called "google" is a really great place. People should give it a try every now and then. It even does conversions and translations.

Reading

A quick read of the first post where I said I found answers that didn't work might have given you the clue that I had, in fact, googled it already..

Used to be availible

There used to be an extension that would do this. TBE or tabbed browser extension. I don't think it made it past FF 1.0.

It seems like a lot of trouble for just disabling a single feature which does not affect the overall operation of FFP if you just don't click it. The worst thing that happens is you get a bunch of tabs open. You can then just click on the tab you want to retain and "close other tabs". I think that is a Tab Mix Plus feature. BTW TMP is not really recommended for FFP.

For

"close all other tabs", you don't even need TabMix+
Right click is sufficient.

When I started looking for

When I started looking for the way to disable it, I was assuming it would be a quick & easy "just edit this" solution, so it seemed worth taking the time. With no css changes making any difference, it's getting to the point that I can't really be bothered, tho - as you say, it's a relatively minor thing.

The only reason it bothers me is I use the keyboard to navigate menus rather than the mouse, and it's not uncommon to trigger the "Open all in tabs" functionality when I was simply trying to navigate to a bookmark who's name begins with an 'O'

Ah well..

Why not?

As far as I know, the only problem with using Tab Mix Plus with FFP is that it includes session store and undo close tabs options, which cause a lot of writes to the drive (reducing both speed and drive life when using flash memory). First of all, that's not so much a problem for FFP as it is for flash drives, so if you use FFP from an ipod or other HDD device, it won't interfere at all. Second, those features are built into FF2. They're disabled in FFP, and can be just as easily disabled in TMP (technically even easier, since they are controlled by check boxes int he TMP options window).

I use TMP regularly with FFP, from a flash drive, and it never causes any problems to my knowlege.
