"DisableSplashScreen" doesn't work in Sumatra PDF Portable . . .

Placed a copy of SumatraPDFPortable.ini in the folder containing SumatraPDFPortable.exe and changed the "DisableSplashScreen" parameter to "true".

Nonetheless, a splash screen does pops up whenever I start Sumatra Portable.

Am I missing something basic? Or is this a bug?

Please note, I have been using PortableApps without problem since June of 2005.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best Wishes,
vauvert.

Same here

seems to be a bug in the launcher.
Anybody else having this problem?

Hmm

I'll take a look into it.
Edit: I can see one reason why it might not be working.
SettingsDirectory doesn't exist, it should be SumatraPDFExecutable.
Problem solved Wink

Well

Well did you recompile the nsis script after you edited the ini file?

Actually

It's a script error.
Yes I did, and it worked.

"DisableSplashScreen" doesn't work in version 0.6 . . .

Tried Sumatra PDF Portable version 0.6, and I'm still having the same problem. The application does not respond to "DisableSplashScreen" being set to "true".

Is anyone else having this problem with version 0.6?

If so, is John Haller aware of this bug or problem? Is there a way of reporting the problem to him?

Mr. McCue, you seem to have an "unofficial" fix to this problem. Would you make the fix available to the rest of us?

Thank you for your assistance.

.

Try adding SettingsDirectory=Data\settings to the INI.

Same here... and more

I'm having the same problem. Seems the ini file isn't picked up at all. I tried to rename the sumatra executable file and change the directory structure, but afterwards the launcher wasn't able to find the executable. I made the appropriate changes to the ini file and placed it in the same directory as the launcher... nothing!

Jhon? no official fix for this?

Bad...and More Badness....

i better use another program that have same function and portable too.
SumatraPDF always back to default setting and bad menu control.
it seems that the setting folder is not working.

Yes

that's on purpose.
John's Launcher erases the old settings on startup to prevent Sumatra from trying to open the last document. Cause that behaviour isn't so "portable".

Entry left in Recent Documents

Start Sumatra on a host computer and view one or more .pdf's; then close Sumatra; unfortunately you will find that the visited documents have an entry in Recent Documents (ie in Start -> Documents). In other words a trail is left on the host computer: not quite "portable"?
Any chance of seeing to this?
(Visited OpenOffice documents are not registered in Recent Documents: this seems to me to be ideal "portable" behaviour. But I haven't done a forensic scrutiny of all PortableApps to see what the normal/ majority behaviour is: I'm just describing a preferred behaviour ...)
Thank you.
