Why not use SSL for login / user details

Is there any reason for not using something secure like SSL for login and managing my user account?
IS it a drupal limitation, lack of time to implement it, no need, impossible...?
I'm just curious.

Server / Costs

You need to use a secure server. It usually adds a big cost and costs more than normal hosting.

Getting to it

I'm getting to it. The server costs are through the roof already. And I'm still trying to pay my rent.

Why not get some google ads

Why not get some google ads on here? I have always had your site whitelisted in adblock just in case you ever have adverts here - hence you are the only site on the internet I have ever whitelisted!

OK - turns out whitelisting

OK - turns out whitelisting on adblock doesn't actually do anything!

You are right... better start buying things through them!

They don't show for me

I don't use Adblock, only Flashblock, CookieSafe, and NoScript. I have google analytics and google syndication enabled and I have never seen any google ads. I use Privoxy but it has never shown any ads disabled that I can then enable. The Sponsored Links block is empty, if that's what you're referring to.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong and how to get the ads enabled for this site? I'm not using any white/blacklists other than through the extensions above. No etc/hosts mods specific to ad blocking. I'm stumped.

Yeah.

It's always enabled and not blocked via NoScript. I think it might be Privoxy but I can't get on without it.
