This is the simple process to make both Google Talk & Google Video Portable to run off a USB drive. I don't know if it will leave registry settings behind but it will work.
1. Download the latest copy of Google Talk and Video
2. Extract the download into a folder on your desktop (using 7-zip)
3. Rename the folder to whatever you want and then drag/drop into your PortableApps
Folder.
TAAAAAAAAAA-DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA that was easy!!!
Firstly, running GoogleTalk this will will leave registry settings on the host machine.
Secondly, settings will be reset to defaults when moving from machine to machine.
Ok thanks for the heads up.

But what exactly is "Google Talk & Video"?...

Person 2: What?
Person 1: I can't remember, I've forgotten.

I am currently working on a portable version of Google Video based on the Registry Rocker template created by nm35, Deuce, and Justin. I'll post the beta in the testing forum soon.

Sorry, but it will never make it to the beta stage. Please read the forum guidelenies for creating apps. Google products are not anything near open source, and therefore cannot ever be on this website.

My blog
Brought to you by an 11-year-old sysadmin/webmaster/programmer (me).
No offence, but you are always so quick to jump on people.
I recall, when you first came to this site, you posted a link to your PortableApps for Linux website, and then you stole 3 different posts to self-promote your Calculator.
I know you didn't know, but neither do a lot of other people on this site, don't go barging in like you know it all, but there people know just as much as you did when you came here, so cut the some slack.
You may be trying to help, which is great, but to it in a nicer way.

Er... sorry. I'm a newbie, as I have just expertly demonstrated...
I never planned to ask to have it hosted here. And I will not package the Google files with the PAF file.
What about Portable Google Talk? That one worked, and that project wasn't shot down from the site.

Wasn't directed towards you just so you know.

Well Google Talk just doesn't write to the registry it makes settings in C:\Documents and Settings\{USERNAME}\Local Settings\Application Data\Google
your friendly neighbourhood moderator Zach Thibeau
It does. Have a look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Google Talk.
Username, password and settings are stored in the registry, while avatars and chat themes are stored in the folder you mentioned.
I know about all that as I made my own Google TalkPortable a long time ago before I heard there was one available. but I never released the launcher as this was something I kept to my self and I still want it kept that way

Install the firefox plugin gTalk Sidebar. You may need to select 'Customize...' on toolbars and drag the button icon to a toolbar to use.
Alternatively, bookmark http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/client and save it to your 'Bookmarks Toolbar Folder' in firefox. Select properties and check the 'Load this bookmark in the sidebar' option.
Then there is no need for a separate portable version
P.S. Dont forget that gaim portable can also be set up for gtalk
