I did read in the forum about portable java. Someone said John T. Haller has made a portable version of java. Is this the truth or is this a myth?
Java *shall* be gpl`ed at *some day*. I don`t get why them don`t just do it and why them need to announce it. However, this probably won`t happen soon.
If so... Without running in legal issues... Could you post instructions to make java portable? I guess not just me could need a portable version for java. Doesn`t matter if first just for firefox or for the hole comp.
John's doing it and is in discussions with Sun. Everything is very hush-hush though

Why?
Well, I can`t await that. There could be many more portable apps if Java would be portable.
i wonder if Java will work with Ceedo
It takes the cooperation of millions of people it make the planet a better place, yet it only needs one to screw it up
Weeee!
Java is open source now.
So what`s the point. Will this be ever released or is this just a myth or joke?
Exactly, Java is now open source, and John is working on integrating it into applications that use Java. Just check in the beta forums for the latest version of OpenOffice.org.

any chance of seeing portable Azureus soon ?
So why he publishes not just the runtime? I mean, we doubleclick to a starterprogram, we have a new symbol in tray and can use now javaprograms. After we are done we rightclick on the symbol and shut down the runtime. That`s all.
This should be better then bringing java into every single program. Or is this not possible what I suggest?
