GIMP: Open Location error

I hate to sound like a complainer, but for my first post, I have a problem with Gimp. It doesn't work right when I try to "Open Location". For example:

File>Open Location>Enter Location URI>http://www.webite.com/picture.jpg

and I get this error:

GIMP Message
GIF Image Message
Could not open 'F:\http://www.webite.com/picture.jpg'
for reading: Invalid argument

Where F: is the device assigned to my micro cruiser.

Something in the code is prefixing the URI with 'F:'.

Does anyone know how to fix it?
