It works for me, it finds it and brings up the box to start the download, but im at school so i really can't do much of anything

Everything works, nothing left behind.
Only the splash screen flickers but I think that's because of my graphic card.
IMHO, you should have the installer have the App's icon.

If it is, maybe he means that you should stick with it, now that you used it for this version, he thinks it's better to have the actual app icon instead.

Used new installer to overwrite my old VLC Portable v0.8.6a and it went without a hitch.
