Can you explain me please what Portable.NET is?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable.NET
Is portable meant to be running on most platforms or meant to be run without installation?
EDIT:
I found mono. (for windows/linux)

Did someone test it yet? If it works it would be worth to have it porable, or?
The portable.net is meant as in porting the code to another os. You can have mono on a USB drive. (Install, copy files. There are many unnecessary files, deleting can bring the size down.) Not Microsoft's .NET Framework.

...it's "port-able" (able to be ported to other platforms),
not really
"portable" ('it just works', w/o need for installation on the host PC and leaving no traces of itself behind)...

As far as I know it is. Just install and copy files.

Mono is open source.
So this could be the way to make to make great .net apps (paint.net and keypass 2 in the future) portable?
PDN doesn't work with mono. When a mono port comes out I will be one of the first to jump on making it portable.

PDN? What is PDN?
Well, if you are able to do it convinced what about .net? Is it technically impossible to do it?
License doesn`t matter if you either just use it for yourself or just post a launcher/source.
PDN = Paint.NET
Someone actually ported it to mono, but there is no download.
