That would depend primarily

That would depend primarily on the license and its restrictions.
For example Dreamweaver allows you to use one license but install it on a Home AND a Work computer. So I have it install my Home computer and on my usb flash drive with a launcher.
If the license only allows it to be installed on a single computer and you make it portable but do not uninstall it from your home computer, you are violating the license when you run it on another computer.
To put it simply, you can legally make it portable if you uninstall it from your computer and only use the portable copy. Anything else would depend on the license.

You must be looking at the

You must be looking at the wrong website LOL.
I've only written a couple of small "utility" apps.
The real impressive stuff is the applications here and the work being done to make them portable.

Still a brother in arms..........
Yeah been there before ran away screaming..... lol
AZ was real nice still growing tech wise. latest Hot thing is medical
creating electronic medical forms for hospitals costs about 1,500 to get the software to program in it then your set to go.

SAS, SPSS, and Statistix

I use both three programs, they are closed source, in fact, SAS have different kind of licenses (one to many computers)... but the fact is that the registry of that program have an expiration date (you have to re-register every year)... there is no way to make it portable.

I have been checking for SPSS, it looks like it have the same problem.

May be statistix, because it's freeware could be "adapted" to run on portable...

I don't have a signature
Should I have a signature?

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

SPSS License

SPSS just changed the way they license the program. On older version numbers you could use the program for as long as you wanted. SPSS upgrades their software on an annual basis, but I've been able to defer upgrading for several years with no problems.

It would be an interesting project to install it to a portable hard drive...I think, though, the program's too tightly tied into the registry to succeed.

SPSS

Load SPSS & SAS on your wife's laptop & charge her business account for support. That's what I've done with SPSS. While SPSS has a good selection of licenses, I don't think they're ready for USB portability.

Talk with one of their sales people...the question will give the programmers & lawyers something to think about.

have them both on 2 laptops

and 4 work stations not going to put it on usb drive putting it on 2 WD passport 160
that way speed is not an issue with it loading usb drives are slower than the micro hard drives but yeah i could take a day trip up to duke and talk it over with sas
