I can't get this game to run past the first time. I've had to re-install the app every time I exited out because I kept getting an error message stating "MegaMario could not be started because MARIO.EXE could not be found." This happened every single time I launched the app after the first time.
Also, not sure if it has to do with the program itself but, I noticed that if you let the demo run for awhile (Open the app and don't start a new game) Mario ends up dying and then the program lock up forcing me to kill the process just to get out. If I started a new game before Mario died in the demo, there weren't any troubles.
I haven't really noticed anything else other than that (Haven't trapped it for registry entries or extra files though)
No, you didn't.
That was one of the dumbest bugs I have ever had.
Edit: Fixed and updated.

The app launcher deletes the mario.exe?
We've all done those "slap the forehead, stupid" errors when coding.

No, It moved it to the data folder.

That's one of the better "slap the forehead" errors.

I'm gonna give it a shot right now. I saw this about a month ago and thought it would make a great portable app. But is it still being developed? Or there one just one and it was final?

I felt so different without a signature.
I don't know if it is still being developed. I have no connection to the original developers.

Oops... I meant this for the Monopolies thread... My bad. Game runs good but is there a way to make not full screen?
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you do or say will be exaggerated or mis-quoted and used against you.
The monopolies bug is not an issue with the launcher, contact the guys at the site. I don't think it can be set to not use full screen.

Thanks for the game. Have you ever tryed (Super) Mario Forever? I think it's better than Mega Mario. Also, where's the source of the launcher?

The source of the launcher is in the Other/MegaMario Portable Source directory.

Looking good, I used to use the regular version of it, so this is a really nice thing to have!

I fail to see why people like this game... am I the only one who's finding many many many bugs and finds it ugly as sin? There are BETTER ways to play Mario on PC!
And I just noticed the website design is just as ugly as the game, oh God.
Without further ado I will paste a copy of my portablefreeware.com comment:
This must be the ugliest game I have ever played. Glitchy as hell too.
- Whoever did the graphics fancies himself an artist but only knows how to rip sprites and use photoshop filters. Ugh.
- Ingame looks a little nicer than the title screen, but missing are parallax backgrounds (they appear in the second level but slow the game down immensely), and many animations.
- The physics are off, Mario acts like he's skating on ice, there is no sprite to sprite collisions off screen (a shell can go through many enemies without killing them).
- The "high resolution" (only high by 1985 standards) is offset by the lack of options to adjust it, no windowed mode, and small viewing region (you could see more in the original SMB).
- The transition of going through a pipe is about the only decent looking thing in this game (apart from Mario's head going through the pipe) which leads me to believe it was a code sample someone stole or some stock SDL filter or something. But even this isn't flawless, as sprites aren't rendered during this time.
OK, now I'm done venting. But really... this isn't worth the 8MB on your portable drive. Super Mario War is more fun, even if it does take up more space. For an authentic Mario experience, grab an emulator and some old roms. If you're looking for a remix, there are patches (called hacks) available for some of these roms that changes the levels, graphics, and even gameplay. Sometimes there are multiple versions of a rom floating out there and the patches will only work with one, but usually most patches for one game work with the same rom.

You can cut down the size by ~4MB by deleting App/DefaultData.

I wasn't including the launcher data in the size, just the MegaMario app itself. Also it wouldn't matter how big or small the game is, to me... I simply don't find it worth it.
I just remembered a better example of a Mario PC game... Super Mario War doesn't have single player goodness. One game I'd recommend anyone who likes Mario check out is Super Mario Blue Twilight DX... it's got a few annoying quirks and bugs, but overall it's a much better experience than MegaMario.

I just made the 2nd player a bot.

Can you make a level editor portable for this game, or if you have a gui level editor portable could you post it?
Didn't think of that. I'll try that in the next release.
