How do you keep an idiot in suspense?

Just tell him an update for an app he uses every day will be released later this week .... and then 3 months later hwen there is still no update .... his head explodes.

Like everyone else here I congratulate John on some very cool coding. Some of the add-on's being developed make it even cooler. But teasing about release dates and "keeping features a secret" .... hey wait .... isn't that Bill Gates territory?

Smile

To paraphrase Jack Nicolson "If you're trying to give me hope you'll have to do a little better than that .... I'm drowning here and you're describing the water."

Um

Do you really think chastising John is a good way to help get the apps out quicker?

If you have something productive to add then post it.

No way! I have nothing but the highest regards for his work!

Don't have a cow man! (Perhaps there should be a forum guideline that humor is not tolerated.)

As someone who has been debugging code for over 25 years .... I totally know the landscape.

Ryan's teasing about features aside ... there is no info forthcoming.

The idea of a forum is communication. To be frank I find PAM totally usable the way it is, but like any favorite app, I am anxious to see it's new version. I just think it's "funny" that so many of us are checking back day after day in hopes of news ... Pavlov would be proud.

Besides, as the subject of my first post above says .... I'm an idiot.

Info.

Small amounts of info can lead to wrong conclusions. If you have been here for as long as I have you would also get tired of the seemingly endless request for info on new releases of PortableApps.com stuff.

I meant no disrespect.

John is not only doing most of the coding, but he also does most of the compliance, site maintenance, moderating, marketing and he probably even cleans the bathrooms at the PortableApps.com HQ. Kinda overwhelming especially with the popularity of these apps. So when anybody questions John or his methods I can get kinda defensive.

Yes, but no one noticed that I put the whole list up for an hour on my site Wink
And no, it's not going back up.

Well

In honesty, I'm waiting for the new menu myself. However, the carrot works better then the rod, usually. Have kids, and that's changes things. But John's not a kid. So let's give him a carrot ^

I haven't had any problems with the menu other then things that had the wrong name. Not his fault- since its technically supposed to run just his apps and it was a problem solved with Resource Hacker.

However, it would be nice to know a few things- like is the menu them going to be the same size, etc. or will it change? I already know its going to be supported- I think it was Ryan that told me that, so I'm not to worried.

What would be really nice is if it would be so that I could structure my apps in folders so if I wanted the stuff I use for icon making would come up in a folder, while all the screen shot utilities would be in another, while they would be seperated from other apps. (Hope that was clear).

Any way, carrots for John ^ ^ ^ ^ --Keep up the good work, dude.

And if we're all in suspension, then we must all be idiots.
Panic, Mayhem, and Destruction- My work here is done.

(By the way, the same launcher's been in use for about a year, the update was released about 2 weeks ago, so.)
