Moving the profile directory

Is it possible to move the profile directory for PFF? I tried running PFF with the -p switch and nothing happened.

Read the readme.txt

in the PortableFirefoxCode directory.

Another directory

I would like to move the profile directory a completely different directory on the USB device. The goal is to centraize all the profile directories for easier backups.

Read the readme

it details it, as I mentioned. Also, check out the directory structure of the Portable Apps Suite. It does this out of the box and all the launchers support that structure.

I tried this

I'm sure I'm being a knuckle head, but will this work:

ProfileDrectory=..\..\My Documents\Profiles\PortableFireFox in the ini file?

It may

but going up directories is not supported and if it works now, it may not in a later implementation of the launcher. They're supposed to be subdirectories of the launcher directory.

And if you want your profile in your normal Windows folders, you're better off just installing regular Firefox. They all get saved to C:\Documents and Settings\[login]\Application Data. All apps do that. So it's easy to back up.

...

I don't think he's trying to put the profile in his *local* My Documents... I think the intention here was to use a My Documents folder on the USB key. His folder structure on the key is set up to _look_ like Windows' structure, I gather.
