Autorun when Flash Drive Plugged in

Thanks for Portableapps. I am totally new to using apps on a usb flash drive so forgive some dumb questions. I am installing my program I wrote on a flash drive. It works great but I would like to have it load automatically when plugged in or even on the portableapp menu.

A search of Google indicates that autorun will only work on CD's and not USB Drives.

Any ideas greatly appreciated. I finally was able to remove U3, Portableapps is much better.

autorun.inf

Create an autorun.inf file and put it in the root folder of your USB drive. It's not completely automatic -- Windows will pop up a dialog requiring manual confirmation -- but it's close enough. My autorun file launches PStart and I use that to launch anything else I want to happen automatically.

autorun.inf

Thanks -

Not auto load, but at least you have the Windows pop up and the item to click on, and I think that is close enough as you note.

Windows XP SP2 or Higher Only

Autorun for USB flash drives only works in Windows XP SP2 or higher. The only reason that the U3 launcher works all the way back to Windows 2000 is that it uses a CD-ROM type partition at the beginning of the drive to autorun itself.

From the new master of the cards, have a wonderful animé filled day ^_^
