I have noticed occasionally that some posters here have ventured way off topic from the original topic. Sometimes posters are way off any support or development discussions.
PLEASE these forums are designed to provide support and development communication for PA.com users around the world. Topics which focus on or stray to politics, religion, sports teams etc should be kept at a bare minimum or just not started or posted in at all. I am not saying that we cannot keep things lite around here, just think business casual.
John has provided us with some awesome apps and there are many great apps that have been developed here by others and many more on the way from both parties. John, and the other mods have more important things to do beside policing these forums so that users don't mentally strangle each other over things that are not PA related.

Life is about the journey not the destination!
The Kazoo Spartan
I admit that sometimes I do take things too far. I should work on that because I have a passion for what I think. That passion often makes me take things too far.
EDIT: This may be something to add to the off-topic guidelines.
"America has never been an empire. We may be the only great power in history that had the chance, and refused – preferring greatness to power and justice to glory."
George W. Bush
"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." - Rick Cook
That's why I did this as a new topic. I think most of the offenders are using the tracker and not the regular forums to read new posts. Putting it in the guidelines might be useless.

That's true.

Each forum has its own area of discussion, so any thoughts/responses belong in the appropriate forum. OT is special, though. Pretty much anything that doesn't belong in the other forums goes in OT, but because this is not a completely informal board, certain things are just not allowed. Discussions involving religion or politics are can not only spill over into other discussion, but the heated exchange that often ensues is a huge distraction. I don't think we have to be even remotely on topic in OT, though.

The off topic forum should at least be loosely related to something happening in the on topic forums. They aren't there so anything and everything can be discussed. I added the Off Topic Forum as an experiment but had said that if it got to be a distraction from the purpose of this site, I would drop it. As it is, it's enough of a distraction, that I think I'm going to remove it from the tracker (Recent Posts page) so that most people watching topics of interest don't have to deal with the Off Topic stuff.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I don't know if removing the Off Topics from the tracker is the way to do it. Most of the posters have good intentions. I just think they just get carried away sometimes. It is the same problem that may are having now with email's. No body language to see in an email or forum post. You can't read sarcasm, kidding, pleasure etc. very well in text.
It is your house though, you can make the rules.

95% of the people coming to these forums probably could care less about what's discussed in the Off Topics Forums as they're here for portable apps. So, why not remove it from the tracker and let those folks that care enough about it be able to check it with an extra click (just click the Off Topics Forum and you see all the new topics there). That way, the off topic posts aren't cluttering up the tracker for all users... but the users that want to read still easily can.

I have noticed the forums are getting quite cluttered with off topic stuff.
To the Off Topic posters: This does not mean the Off Topic forums are fair games now. My earlier pleading still stands. Please keep the forums business casual.

Why's that?

Basically, you can talk about a Windows VS, but not like "Have you heard the news, so and so won the World Series" or something like that. It has to be somehow related to PortableApps. I know, I am guilty of getting too off-topic too.

Well, I got ya nachoes right HERE, bub - check 'em out:

Not 1, not 2, but 3 pages worth(!) of one of the most fall-down hilarious threads I ever read (let alone took part in) anywhere on the net.
After I sent my last post, I looked it up on the net and read thru it again, and no small amount of hilarity (and cravings) ensued.
Bon appetit!...
P.S. - I forgot to mention "shredded head" (lettuce) also on my nachos, for some extra, veggie-style crispness..
