Hey, just started using PortableApps and they're great!
One thing - how about adding the word "Portable" to the title of the window of Firefox Portable? Right now its "Mozilla Firefox". Could you change it to "Mozilla Firefox (Portable)" or something similar?
It gets a bit confusing when using the app locally, and there's a locally installed Firefox.
The Firefox Window Title is done by Firefox itself and not by the Launcher. And as John can't change the Firefox binaries its not gonna happen.

You can download it here: http://www.mrtech.com/extensions/local_install/
John cannot change the name of Mozilla Firefox. He already has permission to call if Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition, which evolved from the name Portable Firefox. He would not be able to make that change and redistribute it.

Was that why on the pages where the apps were hosted, it said, "formerly blah blah" which essentially just made the Portable designation at the end? I mean, I like it that way, as it sorts better, but I was wondering why he did that.

Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.
It is part of the licensing agreement that John has with Mozilla for Firefox, Thuderbird and Sunbird. It really is a credit and nod to the original developers to have the name of the program come first. John has changed all of his apps to this.
The file folders have retained the old format for continuity and upgrade reasons.

You can easily do that yourself with this extionsion.
Save it to your desktop, then open up Firefox Portable, click "File" Click on "Open" and open that file I just linked, install it, restart Firefox Portable then go to Tools->Addons then the "Extionsions" tab, and click on the Firesomething one, click "Options", then edit the name.

Edit: Here's the instructions as to how to add it yourself.
1) go to //FirefoxPortable/App/firefox/chrome
2) use 7-zip to open en-us.jar (you do not have to extract it, just use the "open inside" option)
3) go to //locale/branding and open "brand.dtd" with notepad
4) change brandShortName from "Firefox" to "Firefox Portable"
5) change brandFullName from "Mozilla Firefox" to "Mozilla Firefox Portable Edition"
6) save the changes (be sure the file extension doesn't change
7) 7-zip will prompt that a file has been updated and ask if you wish to keep the changes, click "yes"
8 ) close 7-zip, run FirefoxPortable and the changes should be there
