Error starting PortFirefox

trying to start PortFF, on two different computers, i always
get the following error code:

- The instruction at "0x00818c00" referenced memory at "0xffffffff". The memory could not be "read".

any idea what this could be, and how to get rid of it? everything else,
incl all portable applications, work fine on these computers (both WIN 2000 Prof).

greetings - heinz -

Did you try redownloading

a fresh copy and unpacking it over the old one to make sure all the files are OK?
Or check your drive for errors.

I sometimes get this message

I sometimes get this message when I use it on PCs at school, and it's usually followed by "the system does not have enough memory to perform the task" simply rebooting the pc works for me

Once,

I got an error like this. It was b/c the launcher was corupted durring file transfer (from pc to drive). I ran the firefox.exe directly and it worked. So then I redownloaded and reinstalled PortFF onto my drive (instead of my desktop) and it worked. Try running the firefox.exe directly. If it works, redownload and reinstall a new copy of PortFF.

Never

run firefox.exe directly!
Makes you lose portability!

Well,

That explains why my firefox folder went from 10 mb to 50 mb. lol. I had to see if the firefox version still worked though. Basically I had no choice, I am on dial up and it takes forever to download stuff. So I wanted to be sure it was firefox and not my pc.
