It looks like inkscape became inkscpae. Is this the link - http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape-usb/ ?
If so, this is the direct download link.

To create an english version is just a fingersnip (without any apperaring Boxes or other issues).
Use the nice Search button on the right top of the site before You invest time for things what still exists.

1. That is not in the PAF format.
2. I have seen that before.
3. With my current setup I can throw together a launcher in a few seconds.

The paf is not 100% fully standard compliant (it doesn't have the /App/AppInfo or /App/DefaultData).
That doesn't look like it will be updated as it doesn't have a webpage or sf.net page.
It doesn't seem to play well with the Vista UAC.

as I said it exist for more then one year, before the new launcher an menu was made.
There is a new version, but it is not published at the moment, because it will use common components (gtk) together with other Apps to save space.
But I will have a look at Your version.
If it is better why should I not accept it and create a German version of it
Are You interested in help on Your sf project?

If you want to help me I'll be glad to add you as a developer. It is written in AutoIt. I don't know how to point inkscape to the GTK place.

At the moment I work with NSIS, because this is what Johns uses for all App-Launchers.
But I think we will find a way to work together to make a good job on InkscapePortable.

Hi,
I've created a new NSIS based version in the actual pa.com format and with the new installer (multi lang).
Should I upload it to SF?

Post it in beta testing, we wanna see it....and we hope it becomes official.
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
I'm using an old Portable version for aaaaaaages
Post it as a dev test to the TEST: Development Test section on the PA SF project and we'll start playing.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
(I'll double check the new format and the installer an then upload it).
EDIT: Upload is finished. You'll find the package here:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/portableapps/Inkscape_Portable_0.45.1.0...
At the moment it uses the old splash from Klonk/oooportable because the launcher is based on his PA template (like all the other versions of oooportable).
I'll rename the package to Inkscape_Portable_0.45.1.0_RC1.paf.exe without any changes (only to make clear, that it isn't an 'officicial' pa release at the moment).
The locale for the selected language (Dutch, French, Italian, German and en) is installed by default, all other languages as option.
If it will be 'official' we should change the splash to PA, use the default help page format and set contributor/additional copyright hints for Klonk/ooportable.org.

Looks good so far - I'll keep testing it out, though I must say, I'm having a hard time revert back to 0.45.1 as I keep playing with the dev version of 0.46. Hope you plan and making it portable as soon as it's released. That would make me very happy!
... if a the new version is released.

Now that Inkscape-0.46.win32.exe final has been released, will there be a portable test version?

It works good, and I think Inkscape would be good to be portable.

Yes, read the licenses. (GPL and MIT)
I would appreciate it if you gave me a link though.

I've waited a long time for a truly PAF compliant version Inkscape -- kudos!
Only one issue I've seen so far. When I run the Inkscape Portable launcher a small dialog box pops up that says "OK" (you click on OK to close it). Other than that it looks slick and runs very fast.
Thanks again!
I got the same thing.
"America has never been an empire. We may be the only great power in history that had the chance, and refused – preferring greatness to power and justice to glory."
George W. Bush
"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." - Rick Cook
Also getting that dialog with the Ok button. Other than that, all looks good here from what I can tell. Thank a ton! I love this program.
Found that, fixed + uploaded.

I get an error message from the installer stating that the rev 2 download is not a supported archive. There doesn't seem to be an MD5 to check the download. Any thoughts? The download is also 12286136 vs 20410477 bytes.
It was a corrupted upload I think.

This version works great, Thanks!
Everything looks good here while trying it out.
Each and everytime I run it, I get a new "Inkscape" directory created in the current Data\settings\Inkscape directory i.e. after the third time running and quiting I have:
InkscapePortable\Data\settings\Inkscape\Inkscape\Inkscape
My inkscape settings are not being re-loaded after close...
Odd. That doesn't happen for me. What Operatings System?
cowsay Moo
cowthink 'Dude, why are you staring at me.'
If I don't push it too hard, it seems to work fine. But if I have more than one picture open in Inkscape, with moderately complex paths, or if I use the Trace Bitmap with more than 16 or so scans, it tends to max out the processor and freeze up. This doesn't happen with the X-Inkscape version from Winpenpack.
Anyone else have performance issues?

?
If Yes, I'll have a look at X-Inkscape to find out the difference between this versions.
BTW: X-Incscape is only a wrapper version, not really portable. It writes in the registry like the local installed version and freezed up, if there is no registry access (vista).

Is this still being worked on? If not, I'll take over the project if you want.
"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate."
... cause there are only some answers not a really big feedback.
If You'll take ist over I'll take focus on plone portable (another project under construction at the moment) and fixing updater issues

Never curse the alligator till you done cross the bridge.
.46 is finally out and introduces a TON of improvements. I'm thinking getting this updated, and creating a new post in the Dev Test format would be a good idea. Good work so far :).
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
I don't see why people who port GPL apps to Windows don't make the portable app first, installer version later. They ought to know nobody likes cluttering up their registry.
but maybe it's not as easy as it seems to comply with the PA requirements.
I mean, there are already apps that are offered by the developers in "one-directory" zip files, but they still might leave a trace or two.
Check portablefreeware.com for some great examples.
As for Inkscape (and Scribus), boy oh boy I'd like to see these picked up seriously again here, and taken to release.
My inner hopeful child is telling me that our devs are waiting until the end of the Summer of Code, to catch all the cool new features....
(Hey - that would be a great SoC objective for next year: portablizing every app in the program!)
I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
The main improvement that I need from 0.46 is the Cairo PDF support. I use Inkscape to lay out puzzles for my puzzle web site.
I had 0.46 installed on my Ubuntu laptop, but it's getting old and I can only use it for 10 minutes at a time without it overheating, so I can use that to convert the files really quickly (sometimes I blow into the heat sink like an old Sega Genesis cartridge to cool it) or bug a friend who has it on his Windows laptop and his Ubuntu server. Other than those options I'm stuck with crap PDF support from the 0.45 version I have on my USB sticks that I can run from work/school.
Does anyone happen to know if there's a way to just run an SVG to PDF converter using the Cairo graphics engine from a USB stick?
