It is Not already done.

Thunderbird 2 Portable has Not been released.
It is still in RC stage/testing.

Check the homepage of PA.com and the TBP homepage.

If you are going to tell people to search it is best to provide correct information please.

I know it says RC1

But RC is above beta and testing is it not? I checked to make sure it was listed on the PA.com homepage. I was just directing our fellow to the search buttons and the homepage. If he would have searched he would have found the info himself.

I assumed he was not just asking to bug John about when it would be final, final.

It's the final PortableApps

It's the final PortableApps version of the *old* regular Thunderbird RC1.

Final Release, RC, Beta, Alpha

I was asking about the Final Release of Thunderbird 2 on PortableApps. It came out as Beta and on Release Candidate 1, but not yet on Final Release.

As I believe that Firefox and Thunderbird would be fairly active products on PortableApps, I was thinking Thunderbird 2 would be on PA sooner rather than later.

You are right though. RC1 is stable enough to use (I hope).

And besides, I got the answer I was looking for. John will release it when he would release it. And I'm sure it will be out within the next 30 days or so.

Soon we hope

It is still in Release Candidate [RC] stage/testing.
That's better than beta and just about ready.

The default answer in this forum is "It will be ready when it's ready",

The more gentle answer is...

John does a lot of quality testing so he can release a good, stable product.
I'm sure it will be released soon. We all need to give John the time and space he needs.

I'm holding my breath too.

Sorry to bother but...

Hi John,

I was just wondering if you already have plans of releasing Thunderbird 2 as a PortableApp.

I'm migrating from Outlook destkop to Thunderbird Portable. I was holding off and waiting for v2. If at least you could tell me:

1. Just use 1.5 first as you're busy with more important stuff.
2. Go ahead and use Thunderbird Portable 2 RC1. It's stable enough.
3. Wait a few weeks, v2 PA is on the way.

And thanks for all your work! I truly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Gul

P.S. I know John is very busy and he's given a lot of his time creating such a wonderful open source product. It's just that I can't ask anyone else for a definitive answer on this.

John can't give a definitive

John can't give a definitive answer either, he doesn't know how long things will take, his usual respones is "It's done when it's done"

Using 2RC1 now...

I am using TB2 at home and TBP 2RC1 from a USB flash drive at the office now and it works great for me!

Make the jump! What are you waiting for?

TBP 2 RC1 a Go!

Thanks for that feedback. I'll go for TBP 2 RC1 and wait for the final release.

waiting for my extensions to be updated

That's why I haven't done it yet, and will wait even if John makes it good. Smile

The program really doesn't change _that_ much between versions. It's the extensions that make it pop for me.

I did download the .5 nightly build of Lightning, which looks a tad better in display, and has some new features.
