Hey everybody. Just a quick question. I work for a company that doesn't exactly give everybody admin rights. U3 drives work no problem, but I'm not sure about this program. Just haven't tried it yet. I do know tried to run trilian on my work computer from a jump drive, and it would not work (although it works on my other 2 pcs, so I doubt it's a registry issue). What I'm thinking is that my work may have blocked the ability to run executables. Is the launchpad on a U3 drive an .exe or is it a different file type? The person next to me has a U3 flash drive, and I've seen his working. I just want the same goodness without having to pay for a new flash drive. I have a 2 gig that's not U3, and I have a 60gb portable hd. I want to use the hd for all of my music and winamp.
BTW, that leads me to another question. I extracted winamp lite as was instructed, but is there a way to still skin it?
Thanks for any help guys. It's greatly appreciated.
the PortableAppsMenu should work, too.

Have you tried to "skin" winamp?
What instructions did you use to extract it?

Nevermind. I got the skins to work.
Your work probably doesn't allow the server that your Trillian client connects to when using AIM, Yahoo, MSN, Etc. What you should try is to find a proxy server of some kind and use that address in the settings menu somewhere. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly where, I have not used Trillian for some time, but I am waiting for Trillian Astra to come out, it looks very nice.

Not the server, but the port. They probably blocked all ports above a certain number.
Vintage!
he never said that it didnt work, he said he didnt know if it worked. and the PAM might not work because u3 and PAM are different program types.

My company keeps all our PCs well and truly locked down to prevent the loading of unauthorised software. Portable Apps work perfectly inasmuch you can launch any programme you like without exception. Where it fails is when I want to access the Internet; they won't give me the proxy server details and it would be a career limiting move to try and hack it.
On my personal PC withW iFi access to a public portal everything works except sending mail by Thunderbird. The country I work in has blocked certain ports and, as I don't want a visit from the secret police, I haven't hacked that even though I could.
To summarise: Portable Apps work but functionality may be limited by politics.
