I just started actually looking at the launcher code with SciTE, and it seems that the way you set it up, you only have to edit a few lines to change what program it launches. You still have to resolve paths and things, but the way it is set up is genius!

I have a working version of Portable SciTE here. (I'm a NotePad++ user... which uses Scintilla) If there's interest, I can release it.

The Sc1 executable is already portable, though I don't think that actual SciTe is. I think that you should release it, it could interest many people.

...And SciTE is already really portable. All preferences are saved in the application directory and it makes no saves to the registry.

I already got the icon with the res hacker. I also knew that SciTE was portable, I just made it as proof that I could do it.

Scite is already portable as mentioned in an earlier post. Just download the self-contained executable SC1.exe from here (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/scintilla/Sc167.exe). If you like to use any customized options (that you can get from the regular release), just place the appropriate .lua and .properties files in the same directory as SC1 and you will be fully functional and portable, no special launcher needed unless you want it to open a specific file as a parameter (which could be done with pstart).

~Sigh~ Not yet. I had only just d/l'd it when Windows decided that it would rather die than live with me. According to me Da, I "poked" at it just a little too much...(I didna even do anything....this time! lol); it just happened to take my USB with it. Needed to reformat the thing, and I think there's STILL something wrong with it...leastaways, I've still got my Suse OS, and it can read off the C drive. Still trouble shooting WINE, though. ( It's said that I did 'something' there too, lol :D)I'll reinstall in a couple of days, then i'll let you know how it's working.
It should work fine within WINE, so if you get that working, the PortableGmailNotifier should work.

lol, no, I meant that, somehow, I 'broke' WINE (seems to be a recurring theme here... :P), but I think it'll be fixed soon.
Well if you do get it working, be sure to try the preogram on that too.
