I've got a Canon a540 with an SD MMC memory card. But I have no memory card adapter. I can, however, plug my camera into my Windows XP/Kubuntu 7.04 dualboot computer via USB. But I can't actually put any files or folders on it (with my current configuration), only read the files. Any idea on how to put portable apps on it?

Portable Apps on memory card?
If it does, try setting it to allow writings.

I do believe something like this may suit your needs perfectly:

I've seen that. I was just hoping I could use it without needing a memory card reader.
have a swich on the side that says "lock->". Which way is the swich at, to the arrow (meaning write protect on) or on the word lock (meaning write protect off)? BTW, this is the swich that was spoken of earlier.
Oh and if you want to use this card on other computers, you need a card reader (unless all computers you use have built in readers, which I doubt). I recomend a this cheap, effective, and amazingly fast $20 reader. Here's the link. You may get a better deal at a local tech store/super-center store, I recomend you look around first, I did and got the same thing with a 512 MB SD card with it for free!!!

Sorry, I actually have a MMC card.
I'd HOPE the write protect switch is off...so the camera can save files to it otherwise the camera wouldn't be taking pictures.
This guy really needs a reader to do what he wants. Going thru the (probably) proprietary camera interface won't be like accessing it via USB and a card reader.

If it's in FAT/FAT32, then do this:
1. Open a terminal
2. Type su to become the root user and type in your password
3. Type mount -o remount,rw /media/drivename (e.g. PortableApps)

I got:
andrew@ANDREWSCOMPUTER:~$ sudo su
root@ANDREWSCOMPUTER:/home/andrew# mount -o remount,rw /media/PortableApps
mount: can't find /media/PortableApps in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab
I also didn't find my camera's memory card under my fdisk (I typed sudo fdisk -l, and it only showed my two external drives, and my internal drive).
Well, what does your drive appear as under "media"?

Nothing. There's only my Windows partition and my two external hard drives. My camera appears under camera:/, but it doesn't let me create folders.
Hmmm... I really don't know what to say.
