I installed AppsPortable Suite to my thumbdrive. Then loaded (expanded the 89 MB) to my root. The AppsPortable Menu will not run. All other applications in the suite run just fine when accessed from the Root sub dir's.
I did this twice (the second time after deleting ALL thumb drive files) without success. Same error message both times.
Thanks !
Steve
1. WHAT was the error? We're not psyhic.
2. You did read the Suite page where it says to apply the 1.0.1 patch to work with non-XP machines, right?

Error Message: "PortableApps Menu has encountered an error and needs to close".
I'll try the 1.0.1 patch.
Follow up: I downloaded and installed the 1.0.1 patch. Same error message.
I encountered it on a public (library) computer system which runs on Win NT 5.1. I will check my Win 2000 configured machine at home later tonight and get back to you.
Thanks.
I don't think you mean NT. NT doesn't even support USB.
The Menu works on Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista as well as Wine within *nix. It may work on NT, may not. It's not tested, supported or recommended.
It's possible your library may be blocking software from running on external devices and it shows up as this error.

I tried the patched 1.0.1 on my Win 2000 at home and it worked great. Even provided
a nice tray icon.
I think you are right - the library network is likely blocking it. Funny, they did not block my original download or root application use.
Question: Can I delete The PortApp Patch, PortApp Suite (89 MB) and Start PortApps from the original download (not the loaded root applications in the PortApp folder)? Sorry for my simple questions - I'm just a user/computer hack.
Thanks.
Steve
You sure can. You might want to delete autorun.inf on the root of your drive, but it's a hidden file. If you can't find it, you need to open Tools » Folder Options » View » Show hidden files and folders.

Thanks Ryan,
I'll delete the autorun.inf plus other files.

exe is a self-extracting archive that contains all the portable apps.
You need to extract it to your thumbdrive and then you use (and live) with the extracted stuff.
