I wanted to know what features on Firefox Portable (well, natively in FIrefox I guess) write data to the disk it is on? I want to try to disable as much writing to my iPod as possible so that its memory can survive longer. Or my other thumbdrive that I use... or my CompactFlash card...
I looked at the Support page, and I can disable the Session restore, phishing detection... what else? Am I likely to find a way to 90-99% completely eliminate writing to the drive its running on?
Thanks. (And this is a very clever idea.)
Go to tools...options... Select/de-select the following (in Firefox 2.0.0.0 and up I think)
Main
-Make sure under startup it says "Show my home page / Show a blank page" (your choice)
-in downloads select "always ask me where to download files"
-in system defaults uncheck the "Check if firefox is the default browser on startup" box
Privacy
-under cookies select "keep cookies" and then in the drop down box "until they expire"
-Uncheck the 2 boxes in private data
That should get rid of most disk writes.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
