When FF boots up, I would like to
1. Make the Splash Screen stay up for a shorter time, and
2. Have it load a local file so that it would look like a(n) Excel spread sheet. But more than load an Excel screen shot. I would want the FF top bar, tool bars, and other Windows XP attributes to be similarly disguised so that the effect would be more convincing.
Could you please offer ideas and suggestions?
Thanks!
Why not just skin FF like IE....

Other option is to build a theme for FF to look like Excel..

Did you know that the entire operating system use to fit on a 5 1/4" floppy disk!
Thanks for your advise...
however, I don't want it to look like another browser, rather, it needs to look like an actual work related activity! Also, I don't think I'm up to theme building at the moment but it is a good idea. Maybe later.
Don't think their is anything out there then. Plus I don't think looking like Excel or Word would fool anyone, for a web page looks like a web page unless it's a text or RSS feed reader.
What would work better is a 'Boss button'. There are lots done with different actions. Some minimize things others pop up a fake screen, all by clicking one button on the keyboard.

I can't show you right now, but I will post later a link to a jpg screen capture which shows what I was able to do. I think it came out very nicely and accomplishes what I wanted.
