Themes, extensions don't work

FFP themes and extensions work a treat on my home PC but don't work at all on my work PC. While my add-ons tool list them all, none of them can be activated and none can be seen with tools menu or the right-click contextual menu.
I updated the latest versions of everything on my home PC and access the net at work through a proxy server.
What do I have to do to restore MY internet experience?

And you're using the

And you're using the launcher, right? If you launch firefox.exe, it's like running regular Fx.

Extensions not installing in Firefox 2.0.0.4 Portable

I am having the same problem. I cannot install extensions. When installing, I do a Firefox restart, and the extension does not finish installing. It appears in the add-ons list as "will finish installation after resart." After a couple of tries restarting Firefox, it still wont finish installing. I have tried this with numerous different extensions with the same results each time. This is using the Firefox Portable launcher.

I tried installing extensions in a regular copy of Firefox 2.0.0.4 and the extensions install just fine. I am just having this issue with the portable version.

Thanks.

Restart

Are you *SURE* you're letting firefox.exe fully close before relaunching? Firefox 2.0 has a couple bugs where it won't fully close if it's updating the anti-phishing component, etc. And if you restart before it closes, it'll just start up another copy.

If even after that, then you have corruption in your extensions files. It's the extensions.rdf, .cache or .ini I believe that you have to delete. There's a detailed mozillaZine posting about it as this is NOT specific to Firefox Portable.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks John. I'm 100%

Thanks John. I'm 100% positive that firefox.exe has closed before relaunching. I even tried removing the portable drive and starting up FF again after plugging it in again, and still no dice. Also, this is with a fresh install on a fresh drive, with no prior extensions installed. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
I have no issues installing extensions in a non-portable version of Firefox. The only issues I am having are when trying to install extension in Firefox Portable.

Launcher? I just

Launcher? I just double-click the FFP.exe icon om my USB. When I do that on my home PC, themes and extensions work. On my work PC, I just get the default theme and no extensions at all (even though I can see that all my add-ons are enabled). They just don't work!

Make sure Fx is closed and

Make sure Fx is closed and delete \Data\profile\extensions.rdf. Or, if you have MR Tech's Local Install (which every Fx user should have), Help (Main Fx Menu) -> Repair Extensions/Themes List.

I tried deleting

I tried deleting \Data\profile\extensions.rdf -- but that didn't work. Because my extensions/themes don't work on my work PC, I cannot use MR Tech's Local Install to repair my extensions/themes list.
My solution: uninstall/delete first version of FFP from my USB stick and start from scratch (using home PC). Will be curious to know if FFP works as well at work as it does at home.
Will update after weekend.

It didn't work. An utter waste of time and effort. Still no extensions and still no themes work behind my workplace's firewall. If I was going to be angry, I might say "crap" but I'm really so @#$%ing angry, I'm prepared to say "@#$%". So why doesn't FFP work behind a firewall, especially as it works everywhere else?

Workplace restrictions

Workplace restrictions. I know where I work, users are unable to install and use ANY plugins for firefox, because some of the proxy plug ins could allow users to bypass the company security. Firefox still works, just may not look as pretty and you may have to click the mouse a few extra times or type out a few more keystrokes.
