Pidgin: Gaim doesn't work with MSN

Hi,

since a few weeks I use Gaim Portable. There are no problems to talk with ICQ, AIM and Yahoo, but when I talk with an user of MSN there is a probelm. while receiving the second answer of the user, MSN crashes Gaim. Then the program close automatically an I have to restart the software.

Can someone help me???

I use Gaim Portable 2.0.0beta5 with german language.

Thanks for help ...

Hey Patti,

You can post your message in German if you wish, and I will move this topic to the German forums for you.

It's a known bug that's been in Gaim for more than a year now. If you go to the Gaim website and get their latest BETA (not latest release), the beta has that bug fixed.

Gaim or Pidgin?

When you say the "latest BETA"? Do you mean of GAIM or Pidgin?

Get the GAIM Beta. AFAIK, Pidgin has the same problem with MSN.

Well.

I had this problem too, have you tried a stable release?

Stable releases have that bug. From what I remember, it first originated about a year and a half ago. It took a huge amount of looking around on the Gaim website, but I finally found a post that said that it's a known bug and please download the latest Beta, which fixes the problem. Apparently, they still haven't put the fix into the stable release.

I googled around about Pidgin and apparently, it has the same bug. I have no clue about beta releases of Pidgin. Download one and find out if you're interested.

In my experience (which is a bit old by now), the beta doesn't misbehave in any way, so I'd just switch to the beta, unless you have other reasons not to.
