Search Box

One of my favorite features of vista is the search box at the bottom of the start menu. If there was one at the bottom of the PAM we could do the following.

  • Type the name of a program and have it run.
  • Search the drive from the PAM.
  • Search the PA Forum even?

Whoa!

Totally would love this feature also, especially the features you mentioned.

Tried it

I actually tried it partially with hooking into the OS' disk/folder search as well as with a 3rd party search program. (Even developed a new theme setup and everything for it) It doesn't work with the OS' disk/folder search... it doesn't accept arguments... so it would only work with a 3rd party program or if we built a search tool into the menu... which is a bit beyond scope right now.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Oh well. We could have a launch box that just runs programs. That is the main feature that I want anyway.

Should I have a signature?

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

I agree

I tried making a few external ones, but it would never compile properly and when it did, nothing happened, so I gave up. Of course, I found out later I was only compiling the libraries Biggrin
Anyway, I'll have another go at it when I get back from holidays (Read more below). John, can you get a page on the site up, like the search, but returns the results either serialize()d or in JSON format?
I'm going away for a week, won't be able to post or read emails either. Cya next week. Wink

contrary!

Ok, I'm not against that feature, but I don't want it so, if you are going to make... can you make it optional? like in ASuite?

I use PStart (for now, while I wait for the new PAM) and I hate that feature... find it useless, and space taker...
