I'm running 2.0.0.4 off a 1gb USB drive and have never had any trouble with it before. This week, I received a new computer at work and now Firefox freezes about every 30-40 seconds. I started from scratch, thinking perhaps the file was damaged, and also took all of the measures to improve performance on the support page.
Do you think it could be my USB drive, or is it something on the new computer?
Thanks for your advice in advance!
This is likely a Firefox problem. Does vanilla Firefox work?
Firefox may be thrashing and gobbling up your memory like grey goo. Open Task Manager and see if it is chewing up resources. A web search should give some solutions.
Oh, and if you're a heavy user the occasional session save and restart usually does the trick.
thanks for the advice - i can't install software on this computer, which is why i use the usb drive. when i checked the memory usage it was over 100,000k. after tweaking the about:config, i got it down to ~64,000 so the freezes are less frequent but still occuring.
should i uninstall completely from the usb drive and reinstall again?
Doing a fresh install may help I had kinda the same thing happen and found out the Stick had developed a bad spot which had corrupted the profile, as I also have Roboform on the stick I couldn't just reformat so tried a simple delete of the directory and found that one file was preventing the delete from going thru (luckily I was going to replace the USB stick with a larger one and had already ordered one!
