When attempting to start Sunbird Portable v0.3.1 rev 2 from the Portable Apps Suite menu, I get a box entitled "Error Starting Program" and containing the text "The SUNBIRD.EXE file is linked to missing export USER32.DLL:UpdateLayeredWindow.", and when I click the OK box it goes away and Sunbird doesn't start.
I have searched the MozillaZine site, the support page on this site, and this forum, and I cannot find anything about this.
Environment: 1.8 GHz Pentium 4, Win98SE, over 600 MB space left on my 1GB PNY mini-Attache USB drive.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thankx in advance,
champted
Like Firefox 3.0, Sunbird has dropped all support for Win 9x. So Windows 95, 98 and Me are completely unsupported. There is no workaround besides using an old version. No support is planned for Win9x.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
But why is it always Win 9x, was there some big change in Win 2000 that's different?
Architecture?

well there are many differences but im going to guess the imcompatibilty issue arises due to the different kernel applications need to be written to work under a certain working enviroment(the kernel) thats why they dont run under different kernels (unless recoded or recompiled for that kernel). theres more to it but thats one of many
NT Kernel or Win 9x Kernel
Slackware 12 for system
MCP (For XP and Server 2003)
Network + Certified
aim is "nycjv321" (minus quotes)
Totally different operating system base. So lots of stuff is dropping the Win9x line. Windows 9x is actually DOS with a graphical shell on top. Win2K+ is based on Windows NT which has a different kernel.

That clarifies, thanks.

I found the compatibility page today, which says it won't work with Win98SE. D'oh!
I'll try downloading version 0.2 r5 using the link on the Sunbird page.
Thankx for the reply, and I'll try to do a better job of RTFM next time.
Sorry about wasting the bandwidth. All I can say in my defense is that I was half asleep when I downloaded it, and the half of me that is careful about reading the fine print was the half that was asleep [sheepish grin].
