virtual drives and emulation..

is there any chance of anyone makeing virtual clonedrive, clone drive and bolth ePSXe and any ps2 emulater compat with the PAM? virtual clonedrive is a cd drive emulater that fakes a cd drive so you can mount iso files to it. clone drive copys and burns certan files off of cds like playstation and ps2 disks. ePSXe is a playstation x emulater (i have the bios so there will not be any problem there) and a ps2 emulater would emulate a playstation 2. if there is any way to make these portable that would be friggin awsome. there all free and i dont know about open source.

i can provide download links if needed and i will email the bios files and the emulaters as well as the installers for virtual clondrive and clondrive, and a ps2 emulater i found, no install for the ePSXe, just drag and drop.

personally, I quite like

personally, I quite like ePSXe as its very customizable. but it uses the registry to store the plugin locationms relative to the executable. so in theory, It would be possible to make portable with a launcher. i shall try to make one.

what?!?

it is a drag and drop file and the plugins are in the packaged file. there is one labled ePSXe and all of the others are inside it, including the plugins as well as the bios file, which i happen to have as well as you i assume. i can also provide iso files on demand, unfortunatley the music doesent come along with the game, the ripper i use doesent copy over the music, only the soundfx. ill have to check up on the whole thing you said about the registry because i have never heard of a drag and drop file doing something like that.

I'm pretty sure it uses the registry.
I used to use reg rapper with it, BECAUSE! it "wraps" the registy.
EDIT:: is ePSXe even open source?

not sure. but if we can get the source code, we should be able to modify it to save to an .ini .

There are no links to the

There are no links to the source on the site, which means that it is extremely unlikely that it is open-source. Anyway, AFAIK, there is only one registry key (and nothing in %APPDATA%) that needs to be taken care of. Even a novice NSIS developer shouldn't have too much difficulty.

I've got it ready to go, I just need to know if we're allowed, thats all.
so can someone send an email to the epsxe team & formally ask permission if we can or not?

Never going to happen.

Never going to happen. Mounting a drive requires admin rights. End of discussion.

Sure, but there aren't too many developers who would pursue it. If you want to make your own launcher, go for it.

well practically most of the

well practically most of the apps here have to be able to be run on non-admin users, so the virtual drive thing probably wont happen.
how ever, there are 2 that I use every now & then. one is VFD (Virtual Floppy Drive) and the other is known as winxpvirtualcdcontrolpanel_21.exe.
linkys:
CD: http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/xpvirtualcd.html (first 1 I could find)
floppy: http://chitchat.at.infoseek.co.jp/vmware/vfd.html (first 1 I could find as well)
