Please use proper grammar.

The feature to exclude EXEs from the menu is coming in a future version.

WinRAR

It's available for free, it isn't Open Source, and the full version needs to be paid for. Don't think you'll find it here!

It's simple to make the luncher yourself, I did, but I'm still trying to get my license key to work. I think it's a problem with WinRAR not the luncher.

Yep.. The 'Launch

Yep..

The 'Launch WinRAR.exe' unpacks the files then removes them when it closes. Also tried saving all the files after it ran and running the WinRAR.exe, no luck. My key is for a older version, maybe the problem. Version I have is 3.41, the unplugged one is 3.62.

I want to see what, if anything, it leaves behind before I dig deeper. I have a clean PC at work to test it on tomorrow.

WinRAR 3.7 Launcher

As far as I could tell on my system, as long as WinRAR is set to NOT integrate into the shell (options menu), it only writes to HKCU\Software\WinRAR. I made a launcher tonight from the PAT 1.4.

If anyone's interested, email me at wraithdu AT gmail DOT com.

Unplugged is portable..

Tested it on a clean PC, leaves no trace behind that I can find in the reg or file system.

The launcher is just a clean way to store and start it without playing hide the exe thingy.

In the Beta forums there is a thread called

PortableAppsMenu mod-r9 (something like that) download it, install the contents to the PortableAppsMenu folder in the PortableApps Folder. Then restart the menu, then right click the exes you don't want showing up and click Hide App.

Tried it, got some nice ideas, but it's getting unstable. R7 was working the best.

This will work for most apps

Whether it's WinRar or Adaware I now have a way that you can make most apps portable (as long as the program doesn't require being listed as a Windows service). This requires that you have commandprompt portable. For the purpose this explanation will be done with WinRar, first download WinRar and save it to your desktop (This way if you mess up you still have the file). After that, create a folder under the PortableApps labled WinRar (or whatever you decide, just make it easy). Then go to your WinRar folder and create another folder with the same name. Directory should look like this %yourDrive%\PortableApps\WinRar\WinRar, then install WinRar to the second WinRar folder. Now go to %yourdrive%\PortableApps\Winrar and create a batch file called rar.bat with the commands "cd WinRar,WinRar.exe"

Now this is where you will need command prompt portable. Make sure that this is a clean installation, and not one that you have messed around with already. Navigate to %yourdrive%\PortableApps\CommandPromptPortable, and copy all the files in there and go back one level and create a new folder called Run Rar (or whatever you want) and paste those files in that folder. Then in the same folder, navigate to the Settings folder and edit the commandprompt.bat

Leave these commands alone
@echo off
color 07
prompt $p$g
title Command Prompt Portable
cls
ver
cd\
Add These commands
"cd PortableApps
cd WinRar
rar.bat"

That's all to it. I still haven't figured out how to change the name so that it appears as a different app so if anyone figures that out email me at computerwhizes@gmail.com and if you need any help I'll see what I can do to configure that all for you and send you the files.
