Very good work so far, but there is one big thing I am missing:
The ability to sort apps!
Categories or tabs or something else would be very, very usefull, because handling nearly a hundred apps is a bit difficult with PAM and PAM mod. I'm looking forward to that option.
As much as I'd love to, it's a lot harder than it looks. The tab control isn't theme-able, meaning I'd need to implement my own (a really big hassle), and by introducing a new visible element I'd break compatibility with old skins. If you can think of a good way to implement it though, I'll see what I can do.
c[x. lolz, you can always use folders. like in the windows vista start menu. you click on a folder inside the start menu and it expands into a tree-view thingg. i thnk this will be much easier to add then the tab. as everything sits in the programs area.

I guess I should put up a warning telling people that this is a mod and support isn't offered by PortableApps.com, so I could intergrate the version info into that.
In someone elses mod, you could change the PortableApps logo to an image of your own. Maybe that and the option to change the PortableApps.com text, if it's allowed.
Perhaps a wallpaper swap? Someone's already made a mod with that as well. It's its own button below search, I think the node is 4484. I'll check.
EDIT: Or, perhaps the ability to have an image of appropriate size in a folder called "header" in theme directory. This image would replace the Portable apps branding if the image existed in the folder, if not, the default would be used.
Possible?

I've added some code to make 'Data\Theme\Header.bmp' replace imgPortableAppsLogoPixel and force it to be displayed.
As for the Wallpaper changer, it breaks portability (as it means changing the registry), but as it's entirely optional I've included it anyway ;). Just stick a bitmap in the Data folder called myWallpaper.bmp (e.g. 'App\DefaultData\Wallpaper\MyWallPaper.bmp' becomes 'Data\myWallpaper.bmp').

I think its time for a new post, after 10 revisions its getting difficult to follow.
The other apps here have new listings for each release why not PAM Mod?
Also don't know if you caught my edited post above I made a few changes to R10.

I love all of the new features and improved functionality of PAM with the PAM MOD, but up until recently I've been using the C++ version of PAM. It had a very simple win2k theme, but best of all it had a global hotkey to open/close it it, and to exit when open.
I've got so used to being able to Shift+Win to show/hide it, and X to exit it when it is shown. How difficult would it be to implement this feature in PAM MOD?
Also, would making a context menu for right clicking the tray icon be difficult? I would assume it would just have the same option set as Options, along with show/Hide and Close. I know its redundant, but different users have their own quirks
Both of those sound like nice features!!
Man you're the best!
And speaking of new features you should have a way of installing themes kind of like the automatic installer for the Applications.

Theme installation is already pretty simple, but I adapted the Application Installer code to support special '.pat.exe' files. Just make them the same way that you make normal '.paf.exe' files, the menu will give these the path to the theme directory instead of just the portableapps folder.
Wow, you work fast, thanks for working on those features.
I thought of two more while I was at work:
Have the fade effect when showing/hiding be toggleable. It works great on my home computer, but it lags on my work computer.
The second one may or may not be difficult to implement: add a Restart PAM option to the tray context menu. I'm always adding apps and themes, and have to navigate to and from my USB drive to start PAM again.
The other day I noticed that you can goto "Options->Refresh App Icons..." in PAM and it would discover new themes as well as any apps without the need for a restart. I'm not sure if this is the case in r10 though, it still should work, just no time to check
I know your busy but maybe you can add the functionality to not scan for new apps when PAM starts. This should boost the startup time of PAM substaintially. I have 5 gigs worth of PortableApps and it can be extremely slow when I use my drive on USB1.1 systems.
Just a simple tickbox in the options popup that gives the user the option to "Do not Refresh on Launch" or something to that effect. Instead, the DB would be loaded with the apps PAM knows about already. We could use the "Options->Refresh App Icons..." to manually scan for new or changed apps.
Consider it added ;). The only flaw is that duplicate entries won't be preserved in the database, and the auto-exec probably won't work, but everything else should (Remember that anything in the right-click menu will refresh the menu automatically, as it involves editing the pafdata files).
I haven't posted yet, but I love what you are doing with the mod, however would it be possible to start a new thread for r11, this one is a little crowded

I figured the best way for me to learn Delphi was to start from scratch.
Although I did borrow John's code for the drive space slider calculations.
Here's a preview of my new menu. SmithTechPortableMenu
At this point the folder buttons work, the right click works on the tray icon, and settings will save to the xml file, and it is basic theme compatible with PAM. (and thats it)
Its open source so if anyone wants to incorporate my idea's into there work feel free.

Oh, you wouldn't know how to create and save an xml document using the binding wizard would you? I got it to work for reading, but haven't figured out how to create one if it doesn't exist.

As for writing using the Binding Wizard, I've got no idea, from a quick glance at the code it doesn't look possible. If it's any help, Delphi's XML implementation is just a wrapper around MSXML, so by looking at the source generated by the wizard and looking around MSDN you might be able to figure out how to integrate your own XML-writing code into it.

Yup, the 'Refresh App Icons' also re-loads any theme or locale files.
...rename is "Refresh Menu" ?
