does starting two portable apps together work?

Does starting two portable apps together work? What I mean is that when I start two different postable apps nearly at the same time, I have intermittent problems, for instance one app shows its configuration menu as if it wasn't able to read its saved registry settings. I can't always reproduce this, but it happens fairly often. I was wondering if it's got something to do with the registry being temporarily locked or something like that. I tried to sequence the apps so that they don't overlap, but I still get the same problem, less frequently. Any ideas? TIA

Shouldnt be a problem

The only thing that pops into my mind is that the start time could be longer due to the speed of the USB drive. I sometimes started FF and TB at the same time and it took VERY long.
AFAIK no App "locks" the registry.
Which App combinations were problematic?
So maybe someone can reproduce it.

It'a a commercial app

hotmail popper, that gives me problems. I just realized that all other apps that start with it don't use NSIS, they're just out-of-the-box portable, ypops, freepops and stunnel.

Don't use ypops or freepops

As I'm 90% sure they are unportable. Use the Webmail extension instead as it is portable.

More recent ypops versions use an ini file

and I need ypops' built-in SMTP server. Is there an alternative for sending e-mail via Yahoo?
I didn't know freepops might not be portable, I'll doublecheck. Thanks.

I'm fairly sure that

Webmail makes runs a server, but I'm not fully sure.
