Notepad++ Portable 4.1.2 Pre-Release 3 (Testers Needed)

Final release posted. Topic locked.
https://portableapps.com/apps/development/notepadpp_portable

I know, I had this kicking around on my drive for months without posting it, so here it is. It's Notepad++ made portable. It automatically backs up and restores an existing Notepad++ registry key if there is one (and cleans up after Notepad++). It also has session support built in, so you can have the same set of files open from your portable device on each PC you move to (it adjusts the paths for you automatically). It does the same for the explorer plugin if you use it (remembering the path on your portable device that you had open), so it's handy for folks editing whole sets of code files or websites.

It's about a 1MB download, about 2MB installed and it's in PortableApps.com Format with a PortableApps.com Installer so it'll automatically install into an existing instance of the Suite.

Download Notepad++ Portable 4.1.2 Pre-Release 3
(may take a minute to hit the download servers)

Please give it a try and post any feedback.

Thanks,
J

UPDATE, PRE-RELEASE 2: Improved shutdown time (removed code used for Notepad++ 3), sped up splash screen a bit, added support for the Most Recently Used Files list (the paths update as you move PCs now, too)

UPDATE, PRE-RELEASE 3: Updated to support additional language files.

Whaddya Mean?

You mean you close and re-launch it right away and get the default (by awful, I'm guessing you mean big old icons that are 16 color, which is actually the default in the EXE but overridden by the default config files in NPP and NPPP).

Ah

You launched it too quick. It takes 1.5 seconds to fully save everything back.

But, in looking through my code, it was actually doing that for an OLD version of Notepad++ (pre-4.0) when it allowed multiple windows to launch. I just finished a fix and am uploading now.

Pre-Release 2

- Fixed the shutdown taking too long (if you launched it within 1.5 seconds of closing it, it might come up blank).
- Shortened splash screen a tad
- Added support for MRU file list so it adjusts paths there, too

I tried passing a txt file

I tried passing a txt file to the above pam version via conveyer, and it crashed. passing a file to the official notepad pe executable does not crash.

Done

It seems to work now. I use this quite often so if I see anything weird about it I'll let you know.

A bug?

I putted my German 'nativeLang.xml' into the 'Data\settings' folder but it was not found by the app and NPP started in Englisch. So I moved it to 'App\Notepad++', now everything works fine and NPP starts in German UI.
