I realize that it's posted on the main support page that no Java portable is listed as a known issue for Firefox Portable, but now that there is a portable form of Java installed for the new OpenOffice.org, is there a way to have Firefox Portable point to that version instead of having to rely on a local copy? Or is that something that is still in the works?

It's been discussed many times. You can't do it right now. Firefox uses the locally installed JRE only.
That said, I have something up my sleeve.
