Cannot download files

I'm using the latest version of portable firefox on a Memorex u3 256meg. Works fine on the xp computers at school, but when I try to run it on win2000 pro at home I'm not able to download any files. "Save picture as," "save link as" etc. all give me a split second of hourglass, then nothing. This feature works fine in regular firefox and IE on the same machine. is this just a 2000 bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Which version?

Which version of Firefox for U3 are you using? Mine or YourBrainz. If mine, have you checked to see if it's automatically downloading to your USB key? Check Tools - Options - Downloads and set it to ask me every time. It should work fine on XP and Windows 2000.

It must be yours - it's not

It must be yours - it's not YourBrainz. It's already set to ask every time; I looked on my drive, the files are not there.

Similar problem with uploading. When I click (for example) on the upload button at imageshack.us, nothing happens. Regular firefox still works fine on the same machine.

*shakes fist at bugs*

Hmmm

Any chance you did an unsafe eject or unplug at some point? Hve you tried checking the U3 drive for errors? (in Windows explorer, right-click the drive, Tools tab, check for errors)

If not, try setting it not to ask and give it a specific location to download to... say the root of your U3 drive. Then download something. Then set it back to Ask. That may clear the issue.
