I am on a school computer that lets me run programs off my drive, but has the system tray lock out (or doesn't show on the bar)
How can I access the programs that are running, without the system tray?

At least I use that when I'm on cyber cafes...
Another option is don't maximize windows so you can see those behind...

If you can get to the USB key via My Computer/Explorer, you can open up the usb key, then open up the directory of the portableapps and then run them directly.
I don't think it should mess with the functions of the portableapps (like the clearing of the registry et al).

with anything. It works very well.

I have been using the alt-tabs, and shrinking the screen is no problem, its when i try to eject the drive, because when you close the apps it just runs in the background so i can not close the programs once they have been run. Also the ctrl-alt-del is also locked down so that is not an option.
I dont like the pull a running usb drive without doing the safe remove first.
any ideas?
Thanks
the lights have stopped flashing, then it should be fine.
I know that as long as no lights are flashing, and I've waited about another 30 seconds to make sure no lights are flashing or blinking, I've never had a problem.

Just find your USB drive, right-click, and choose Eject. That should do the same thing as the system tray thingy.
